A one semester course introducing French to the students. Students learn to communicate simply about themselves and their immediate environment.

A full year course enabling the student to communicate in greater detail about himself and others, and to communicate in familiar or realistic contexts: making bookings, going to the doctor, discussing holidays, going to restaurants etc.

2.5 hour exam: includes Reading , Writing and Listening

AS

3 exams: Oral (30%), Reading (50%), Essay (20%)
  Primary texts Elan 1 and Elan 2

A full year course taken with year 13 students. CIE students may attempt AS in one or two years study. The course introduces students to language beyond their immediate environment so they can discuss issues relevant to themselves and their world.

A full year course taken with year 12 students. CIE students may attempt AS in one or two years study. A level students study 3 literature texts. The course develops students ability to communicate independently and confidently about a wide range of issues.

A full year course enabling the student to communicate in greater detail about himself and others, and to communicate in familiar or realistic contexts: making bookings, going to the doctor, discussing holidays, going to restaurants etc. Students in year 11 will do NCEA level 1. IGCSE Chinese is a mid year exam and may be sat in June/July of the year in which a student is doing year 12. This will happen for the first time in 2008.
