St Peters has its first gold medal in cycling!
Chad Elliston won gold in the under 16 years individual road race of which there were 87 riders. Chad rode an incredible race and timed his sprint for the finish perfectly. Zac Williams and Isaac Simpson also had a great race with Isaac unfortunately having to take evasive action to miss a crash which put him in 21st place and Zac in 40th. We were incredibly proud of these boys as it was a huge field and not the best weather conditions, i.e fog etc.
Joseph O’Gorman, who rode in the under 15 years, and his first ever school cycling event, finished 22nd in a field of 66 riders and was full of confidence as he crossed the finish line with all the St Peters boys cheering him on.
Our year 7/8 boys also had a great first race with Tim Magness finishing an incredible 5th place, William Young 15th and Liam Powell 16th.
Our junior boys, Chad, Isaac, Zac and Joseph finished an amazing 8th in the ‘team time trial’ out of 41 teams representing their schools.
We all had a great weekend and thank Paul Christini for the use of the ‘hot cycles’ tent, and his support. It was great to see the juniors and the senior boys all supporting each other and cycling at St Peters College.
