Our Catholic Character

St Peter’s College educates the whole person in an environment of Christian love and service.

Inspired by Jesus Christ and the charism of Blessed Edmund Rice, we seek to form young men who are people of faith, compassion and courage. We challenge each boy to discover his gifts, pursue excellence and use them in service of others — especially those who are most in need. Our Catholic Character is lived through faith, learning, relationships, service and justice.

At St Peter’s College, Christ is at the centre of our educational mission. We seek to bring faith and learning together, helping young men grow in knowledge, character and responsibility. Through prayer, relationships and service, we encourage our students to live the Gospel, care for others and contribute positively to their community and the wider world. Our Catholic Character calls us to form young men who are people of faith, purpose, compassion and service.

At the heart of St Peter’s College is the Gospel of Jesus Christ. This shapes who we are, how we treat one another, and how we live each day.

Our Catholic Character means:

  • We put faith into action — through prayer, liturgy and the way we live.
  • We make space for God — in our prayers, classrooms, celebrations and everyday life.
  • We strive for excellence — recognising that our gifts and achievements can be used for the good of others.
  • We stand with those in need — looking beyond ourselves and caring for people who are disadvantaged or struggling.
  • We are a community — where love, respect, service and relationships matter.
  • We work with parents and whānau — because education is a partnership.

Faith. Community. Service. Excellence.

These are not just words on a page. They are part of what it means to be a St Peter’s Man
