Cancellations
Cancellations are rare, especially for Football and Rugby. NEVER ASSUME a cancellation, regardless of weather conditions. Wait until you have confirmation.

Cancellations are broadcast on Newstalk ZB (89.4FM or 1080AM) at 7.05am, 7.35am and 8.05am on the morning of the game. Your Team Manager will let you know your Sport’s specific wording.

School-managed events, ie Swimming Sports or Sports Exchanges, will be cancelled by 9.00am on the day of the event. Boys will be notified in their classes.

St Peter’s College teams DO NOT default any game to any opposition. Students are committed to the sport they enter into for the entire season. This includes both Term 1 & 4 for Cricket and Tennis.

If your son is unable to play/attend game please notify coach or manager as soon as practicable.

Joining a School Team
All St Peter’s College students are required to participant in at least two co-curricular activities.  As much as possible we will try and cater for all students who register for a sport or a sports team.  However, sometimes this will not be possible due to various reasons i.e weight restrictions, numbers of players, age criteria etc.

All information with regards to sports registration, costs and trial dates will be on the sport specific website page.  If students or parents, have any questions please contact the school sports office – 524 8108 ext 7307.

For Yr 7 & 8 zone sports or exchanges please contact Mr John Gayfer – TIC of Middle School Sport.

Boys will also need to listen and read the daily notices, visit the sports’ noticeboard and attend relevant meetings.

Draws & Results
Sports Draws and Results for all regular teams (not including Sports Exchanges/Central Zone) are placed on the Sports’ Notice Board on the side of the Administration Block. They are also posted on the school website under the Sports Draws & Results page – see link below:

Please check the draw the day before your game in case there has been a late change.

Costs
Many school sports have associated costs such as club affiliation, uniform rental, tournament fees or travel costs.  Notification of costs will be given at the start of the season or tournament.

Coaching & Managing

We are fortunate that we have a number of St Peter’s Old Boys and teachers that are involved coaching and managing our sports teams.  However, with so many of our students playing sport we encourage our parents to help support these teams through coaching and managing.

Due to teaching commitments, we cannot have all teams coached and managed by teachers at Zone days and Sports Exchanges.  So one-off offers of assistance are also appreciated for these days.

Please complete the coaching and/Managing expressions of interest above, or contact the Director of Sport – Nic Slade – nslade@st-peters.school.nz

For one-off assistance at Yr 7 & 8 zone and sports exchange days please contact John Gayfer – jgayfer@st-peters.school.nz

Injury & Sickness
Medical conditions affecting sport should be notified to the Coach or Manager so appropriate precautions can be taken. Coaches or Managers are not to be expected to dispense medication.

If your son is sick or injured and cannot attend a practice or game, you need to contact the school and get a message to your Coach or Manager prior to the training or game commencing.

If your son is injured during practice or a game and has to go to hospital or an accident and emergency centre, please make contact with the school. It is very important that the school is made aware of any serious injury. You will be notified directly should an accident occur when you are not attending a game. There is a medical stand down period for concussion which must be made known to the coaching staff.

Regular Weekly Competitions
During the year we offer students the opportunity to represent St Peter’s in teams, in the following sports – Archery, Badminton, Basketball, Cricket, Cycling, Hockey, Football, Rugby, Table Tennis, Tennis, Touch, Squash and Volleyball.  The majority of these teams compete in the regular College Sport Sanctioned events.

For some middle school sports, we are aligned with Auckland Clubs, as there is only weekly club based competitions for this year level. This means that we trial and play as a St Peter’s team, but pay our affiliation fees to these clubs to enable us to enter into the age group competition for these sports.  SPC teams wear the SPC uniforms.

The clubs are:

Cricket Yr 7 and 8:            Parnell Cricket Club
